420 Games

Are you looking for a fun, healthy and productive way to spend a Saturday morning? Of course, you are! Come to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco this August 4th at 9am for the 5th Annual 420 Games. Highlighted by a 4.20 mile run/jog/walk around Stow Lake, this family-friendly event is a great way to find out why so many athletes use cannabis.

The 420 Games were “established to show that cannabis users are not lazy, unmotivated, or ‘stoners’ and to de-stigmatize the millions who use cannabis in a healthy and responsible lifestyle.” Through a series of athletic events, the games aim to present the world with a new outlook on cannabis users, one that departs from the trappings of years of prohibition. Events are hosted all over the country, and this year’s games have already seen events in Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, and Denver. Now, the games are coming to San Francisco where cannabis enthusiasts will have their chance to support the de-stigmatization of weed.

Former and current athletes across the country continue to struggle with opioid-based treatment plans on a daily basis, leading to many cases of unwarranted drug addiction. This is a scary, yet very possible situation that athletes face daily. That’s why it’s never too early to learn why so many athletes are publicly speaking in favor of the use of CBD in professional sports.

According to Men’s Health, “The potential link between marijuana and opioid addiction treatment is well documented: multiple studies have indicated that for those struggling with chronic pain, marijuana could be a viable, non-addictive alternative to opioids like OxyContin and Vicodin. Yet over the past few years, some medical researchers have been looking to CBD in particular as a potential aid for opiate addicts, believing it could alter the neural pathways in addicts' brains to help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms.” These studies have shown that chronic opioid addicts have been able to stay away from opioids like heroin and oxycontin with CBD aid.

Traditionally, CBD has been ingested through the consumption of cannabis. However, over the last decade, great strides have been made to provide CBD-infused products in topical form. The need for topicals became essential for individuals seeking to apply aid to a specific part of the body, such as the elbow or knee, without the psychoactive effects associated with THC. Topicals have since become extremely popular for athletes looking for an alternative, organic approach to injury aid, in the place of potentially harmful painkillers.

CBD products like those created by Papa & Barkley are allowing many new consumers to experiment with cannabis while remaining safely in their comfort zones. Papa & Barkley carries a large assortment of products that range in CBD to THC ratios. Papa & Barkley’s Releaf line was inspired by “a son’s mission to ease his elderly father’s immobilizing back pain” and has since provided relief to numerous people across the country. Their award-winning balms provide targeted relief and are applied topically to the skin. The cannabinoids within their products are absorbed through the skin but do not deliver a psychoactive effect as they do not enter the bloodstream, making them perfect for athletes looking to perform at their best.

Papa and Barkley will be present at this year’s 420 Games in San Francisco at the CANEX booth. To learn more about how you can use Papa & Barkley’s products in athletics and pain reduction, come by the booth to speak to a knowledgeable representative. Papa & Barkley will also be happy to inform attendees of recent ratio changes in their products and how they can help those looking to relieve pain. Attendees at the games will also receive $10 off any CANEX order when it includes a Papa & Barkley product. CANEX customers can also receive free admission to the event via this link.
